To sum this groove up in a word, it’s a soundtrack, and its theme is “memories related to sound.” Music is something that sticks with you whenever, wherever and whoever you hear it with. I chose songs to make a soundtrack that’s extremely personal to my past self and that’d also fit Shinjuku and Kabukicho. I also created it with the intent that it’d be a soundtrack that embellishes a moment in the lives of the guests who hear it during their stay in this tower hotel.
MONDO
A drag queen appearing in the live tours and music videos of various artists, DJ MONDO came upon the style of “bearded transvestism” in his search for himself. He also appears as a DJ at clubs and various reception parties, while as a body worker he holds workshops that integrate music.
He shares the joy of free-spirited dance, saying, “When we engage music with an open mind, we each can become unfettered sounds, and in that state, we can trust, forgive and appreciate ourselves.”
